Dinosaur of the week: Brahminy Kite

This Haliastur indus was hunting over a river in southern Cambodia. Australians call the species red-backed sea-eagle.

From the IUCN Red List:  The population is declining, especially in South-East Asia, owing to loss of habitat, persecution, over-use of pesticides and, possibly, increased human hygiene resulting in reduction of available scraps.

Dinosaur of the week: Red-breasted Parakeet

While on holiday in Cambodia a few years ago, we spent two weeks in Siem Reap to explore Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. In Ta Prohm, we saw these Psittacula alexandri, soaring over the highest trees, and very rarely coming close enough to take a photo of with a compact camera.
